Announcements! Here Ye Here Ye!
The Indiana Alliance for Democracy celebrated their 12th anniversary in December! Stop by their Website or send a quick email to congratulate them and thank them for all they do!

In the works!
We're working on a consistent set of promotional materials, including an (electronic) presentation, and printed brochures, pamphlets, and flyers. Details will be coming soon about our "Logo Contest".

2008 (Preliminary) Projects

Study Committee

  • From Organization Day: Matt Pierce agreed that the Census Data Advisory Committee would conduct a study of public financing for the overall Indiana General Assembly's 2008 Study Committee. ICE will coordinate other events around this September event, such as inviting guests from other states,and providing regional and local "teach-ins" for legislators and the public.
Coalition Building
  • Education Outreach
    • ICE will reach out to other groups that have done research, e.g., CARR, to consolidate efforts.
  • Educating Candidates
    • ICE will develop a Candidates’ College and make regional, as well as local, educational presentations. This requires promotional and education materials.
  • Citizen Outreach
    • ICE will reach out to people we know in groups we are associated with. We will stand outside polling places with flyers on primary. This requires promotional and educational materials.
Speakers' Bureau
  • ICE will develop a Speakers' Bureau to prepare for the September 2008 Study Committee and the Education Outreach 2008 projects (as well as to support our ongoing Coalition building efforts). The following are needed:
    • Data on the cost to tax payers of the current system (such as cable, highways, health care, environment, taxes)
    • Data on who gave money for campaigns (attempting to identify second-level contributors)
    • Promotional materials, presentations, education materials, talking points, speakers, list of events

2008 (Preliminary) Committees

Research

  • Gather pertinent data and trends
  • Identify blogs and useful information
Legislation
  • Cultivate relationships with legislators
  • Educate and Recruit candidates
  • Cultivate relationships with legal community
Fundraising
  • Generate income for the operation of the Indiana Clean Elections Coalition
  • Investigate and pursue any grant opportunities that might be available
Outreach
  • Work on Education Outreach 2008 project
  • Work on promotions materials (presentations, press releases, brochures, booth kits) and Website
  • Lobby and educate citizens to join coalition
  • Work to staff events

Accomplishments

Thanks to your great response, we have compiled a list of Legislators represented by ICE Coalition citizen members. We plan to use it in 2008 to develop relationships with our legislators. Details will be coming soon. Check the list out here. If you don't see your legislators in the list, please let us know! (The list is in PDF format. If you can't open, request another format from Karen Rutherford.

A link to the discussion forum has been added to the ICE Website home page (look in the right-side column). (It takes a little getting used to, but the fun to come will be worth it! :))

We have decided to use Google calendar so that everyone can add events or reminders. We will soon have details on the Website and in a near-future newsletter.

A link to Meeting Minutes and Agendas has been added to the ICE Website home page (look in the right-side column).

Promotional materials are in progress and will be added to the Website soon.
